You guys better like this post, because the process of getting the pictures from my memory card onto a usable CD was absolute hell today. It was worth it though, because I couldn't wait to show you my new backpack and little furry friend! I got the pink faux fur fox tail from Ebay for a steal, and attached it to my new white backpack. White might be a tad impractical, but I loved that its shape was so similar to my old beloved backpack, and it's proving to be surprisingly versatile. Also, I've discovered that my rooftop is the best place to take outfit photos, and that jumping in photographs is basically the most fun I've ever had.

Inspired by this really cute video of Topshop's spring wares- I know I'm not the only one who's been stalking everything pastel from their website- I wanted to make a few collages of transitional outfits that will take you from the end of winter to the tentative beginning of spring. After our one solitary snowfall, it is yet again freakishly warm in NYC. Like thick sweater weather. So I feel as though these springy clothes aren't a completely feverish dream. I was going for a bookish, yet breezy vibe with the outfits, a bit reminiscent of the 1940s.

For my birthday, I asked for some bananas insane, but still semi-classy black boots. I fell in love with these ones from Aldo. I like their Theyskens Theory-esque pointy toe, and the wedge makes their 5-inch height manageable for walking. I wore this outfit to go to a diner with my boyfriend in the middle of the day, and because I'm still in Jersey and not back in the city yet, they incited some discouraging looks by people wearing sad blue jeans and white running shoes. So am I ashamed? Abashed? Not even a little.

Some quick, shameless self-promotion: I was mentioned on the Careers in Fashion website as one of the top 100 best fashion blogs! It's such an honor, and these things haven't happened to me often. I've certainly never been mentioned in such good company as The Sartorialist, Into the Gloss, The Stylish Wanderer, etc.

Also, Unestablish has introduced a new line to their website that I'm loving, called Finders Keepers. Because they're coming from down undah, their wares are in the realm of sass&bide, lover, etc. They specialize in rompers, slip dresses, and generally sexy lil' things. Chh-chh-chh-check it out!

Doing a two for one outfit post here, kids! I had a fantastically spoiled extended birthday weekend in the city with my boyfriend and family, and I wanted to post a couple pictures of what I wore. The first look is what I wore to go to the Whitney with my boyfriend- we loved the Real/Surreal exhibit, as well as the David Smith sculpture installation. We then headed to my favorite LES spot for a late (like 11pm) dinner at Lil' Frankies.

Some quick snaps of my birthday party the other night. I had so much fun! I was freaking out about turning 20, but then I realized that a) there ain't nothing I can do about it, and b) I've acted like I was 20 since I was 4, and c) I'm still going to do all the silly things I've been doing. Like my party, which was held in my boyfriend's basement and was themed Werewolf Bar Mitzvah. Don't ask me why, I just wanna do hoodrat stuff with my friends.

Alternately, I'm going out to a grown-up-ish dinner at Balthazar in Soho tonight. It's one of my fave restaurants. I hope I see an Olsen twin there so I can lick her.

Happy New Year, pretty ladies and handsome gents! 2011 was pretty wild for me, from school to relationships to travel, etc. It ended on a surprisingly wonderful note, however, and it's made me newly invigorated about life and all the possibilities that lie ahead. My resolutions are to start running again, finish the novel I've been writing, and maintain straight As in college. I've been simultaneously really inspired by Lana Del Rey, Rayanne Graff and Audrey Horne lately, so over the next few posts I'm going to try and reinterpret some semblance of their style, smashed together with my own. This look is definitely more Lana (although the unabashed 80s-ness could be a little Twin Peaks-esque). I found this amazeballs top at my favorite thrift place yesterday, and I knew I had to wear it at our Christmas party (to scare the relatives, natch). I'm a notorious trend flip-flopper, meaning that I can never decide what my style "is" on any given day. Living in New York, I'm constantly bombarded with beautiful, stylish people (many of whom are students at my school) who inspire the hell out of me. Then of course, there are the bloggers, who are clearly fierce and whose outfits I spend way too much time looking at and discussing with my roommate. What that boils down to is me waking up every morning, opening my closet and being at a loss for what statement to make with my clothes. But I think this happens to most of y'all, am I right?

Anyway, I picked out some of my favorite looks from 3 of my favorite online stores, each of which presents a very different take on the current trends. I wouldn't mind having any (all) of them in my possession. Each store's clothes are inspired by a blogger who I admire because they seem to be in full possession of their style.

The slouchy sweaters and (faux) leather pieces from Mikkat Market are perfect for fall. I'm definitely seeing pseudo-goth trend queen Starr wearing these.

I just discovered the awesome Etsy store BeBoldSunshine, and I'm really into their handmade printed denim and kooky vintage finds. Inspired by the one-of-a-kind Madeline.
Finally, the ever-innovative LN-CC store offers up avante-garde basics as well as beautifully constructed statement pieces. These all seem like something my favorite babe from Stop It Right Now would rock on a daily basis.

I'm moving into my first apartment in September 1st. It's a little place to be sure, but the location is so dreamy. I've heard lots of people have always wanted to live in the heart of Greenwich Village. Like that guy, uhh I think his name was Bob Dylan? I was inspired by these photos of Karen Inderbitzen-Walller and Delphine Avril Planqueel's (great names, huh?) home. It's filled with things without being "cluttered", and I like their neutral pinks and greens color palate. Just replace the bunny with a small black cat and it's perfection. I go thrifting a lot, but because it's usually at cheapo places I wind up buying a ton of things and then don't have time to post them all. This blouse was the best find at the Salvation Army a few weeks ago. Salv's can be hit or miss, but I've found that the best 2 in my area are in Jersey, close to where I live, and in Williamsburg (BK).

I don't know if you can tell in these pictures, but I've been "doing" my brows lately, meaning that I've been penciling them in with this brow shaper I got at Sephora. It works really well, and it makes me feel more polished. I don't wax or thread my brows or anything, so it's pretty perfect for lazy ol' me. I might do a makeup post soon.

Montreal Photo Diary Pt. 1

Just got back from a short but incredibly sweet trip to Montreal with my boyfriend. We stayed in the best apartment imaginable, and partook in all we could during our brief vacation. Highlights were not paying for the botanical garden and finding even more beauty on the outskirts of the park itself, being chased by a demon squirrel, eating green tea ice cream that may very well have been drugged, exploring the desolate beauty of the abandoned olympic stadium, trying all of the beers at a micro brewery, and taking pictures of every exquisite thing I could find.

The Sartorialist has been my number one source for inspiration these days. Obviously that's no surprise to anyone knowledgeable about fashion; he's pretty much the Michelangelo of street style photography. But these three photos so perfectly encapsulate the "look" I'm trying for these days. All of these women have their hair in a bun, off their face. They are all wearing beautifully draped clothing, devoid of loud prints and in muted colors. They all look relaxed, yet are inexorably mysterious. I don't think that wearing the same clothes will give me any more of their je ne sais quoi, but their arresting beauty has been on my mind for the past week or so.

Fun fact: whenever my boyfriend sees a couple walking downtown holding hands, he likes to roll down his window and growl "date niiiight!" in the creepiest way possible at them, and then speed away (speed being a relative term because he drives a minivan). He's a truly classy fellow.

Le boyfriend was nice enough to snap these pictures of me after one of our dates this week- we took these next to, but not in front of, a church. I thought it would be strange to post pictures of a date outfit in front of the church, because that's not where we went on our date. I got these new shoes- similar to the Dolce and Gabbana wedges, but conveniently located at Aldo.

A Skin Too Thin

There are two stories going on simultaneously in these pictures. Firstly, we have the jumpsuit I'm wearing. I just recently discovered the wonder that is Ebay, and I bid on this vintage Gianni Versace Versus jumpsuit without ever thinking I would get it. To my amazement I did, and it was sold to me for a total of 18 dollars. I'm still in shock over the fact that people would sell something this beautiful for so low a price, but I'm incredibly grateful that the shopping gods sent it to me. It's in perfect condition, and although the gorgeous black brocade is a bit warm for this time of year, I couldn't wait till the fall to talk about it.

The van in the background belongs to my dad's cousin and his wife. They're real-life gypsies who travel around America and Europe playing music on a multitude of different instruments, both new and ancient. It's always exciting when they come to visit, bringing their tie dye shirts and tempeh, playing their dulcimers and mandolins and entertaining us with stories of their adventures.

I feel like people have a weird stigma against the color blue. Especially recently because everyone's into weird off-colors, like sage and cream and chartreuse. And that's fine too, but people should embrace blue, especially during the summer. I'm loving pale blues and lilacs, because they function as both a distinctive color and as a neutral. Aside from that, I like ripped, natural hems, blousy European layering, slouching trousers and shorts, and any outfit that just looks a bit...off.

Inspired by these romantic/intricately pseudo-hippy dresses from British site Zalando, I made a few Polyvores. The website reminds me of a combination of Beso and Asos, in that they have a huge selection of products, and you can search for items based on tons of categories. This is important for me when I'm online shopping, because I often get overwhelmed (I've realized I often get overwhelmed by shopping in general-see post below- maybe I need a massage or something). Anyway, you should check out Zalando's selection of French Connection- I hadn't thought about the brand for a while, but their clothing is so beautifully European and perfectly vibrant for summertime. I styled the looks with essentially just shoes and jewelry, with some random wispy accouterments thrown in. Because when it's summer, what else do you really need?

Mark my words, this is going to be the summer of the outfit post. I'm not really into the inspiration posts at the moment, since my tumblr is just one big inspiration post for me. But anyway, I found this dress and this clutch at udelco last week, which is a big vintage warehouse in New Jersey that I'm in love with. I went searching for filmy blouses and neon pseudo workout clothes, but it's such an overwhelming place that I literally get dizzy looking at the millions of boxes full of goodies. So even though I told my friend I'm over maxi-dresses, and told my boyfriend I'm over floral print, I guess I should just bite my tongue and accept my inner crazy grandmother, cat obsession included.

So in honor of not dying in a blaze of fire and whatnot (except did you hear about that volcano in Iceland? Bizzare), I decided to take some pictures of what I'm wearing out tonight. I'm done with school for the year, it's amazing how quickly it went by. I miss everything about NYU already, but I'm working in the city this summer, so at least I'll still be around my old digs. I'm trying to clean out millions of old clothes and things in my room, to make room for the clothes and things I brought back with me, but it's a pain in the ass to say the least. However, I did come across this vintage skirt buried deep in a pile of mishmashed items. I like its tribal/art nouveau print.

On Attempting Spring

This isn't a filler post I swear. All of my waking hours have been taken up with thinking about this beautiful green trench coat, via Hanneli's blog. It's J.Crew, but I can't find it on the website. I was also in Uniqlo last week (before I saw the post), but regardless they didn't really have a selection of trenches. The bottom line is, I would love love LOVE to find an approximation of this coat- on a side note, I'm also digging the way it's styled here. If anyone has any tips of where to find it, or would like to join me in my trench coat lovin', speak your mind :)

I woke up real early to get my headshots done and it was nice. came back to the apartment, ate breakfast and went to an advising meeting. It was a little overcast. By the time I came out (20 minutes later), it was a full-scale downpour. *Insert witty quip about April showers*

So instead, I made you a collage of what I actually wore. Only difference is that my jeans are Levis and my wallet is Michael Kors. Happy Tuesday lovers!

This is an inspiration post, which is hilarrriousss because I've been feeling so completely uninspired lately. Or not even that: actually, I have lots of inspiration to do so many things, but it's being stifled because I have so many damn things to worry about all the time. Mainly money, which I know is such an ultra fashion no-no to talk about. But I think it's refreshing to read blogs (Garance, Tavi, Jess and Sandy being chief among them) who have the audacity to criticize aspects of the fashion world and recognize that there actually ARE some thing that are more important than fashion, et al. And they do all of this while being beautifully chic and different in their personal styles. Read all of their blogs, I implore you.

But anyway, this isn't an I Hate Fashion post at all. I think fashion and style are endlessly interesting and inspire me in many ways. I just think it's also important to get out and smell the flowers once in a while. And you can do that without any money at all.

5PFW: Spring Edition

I've done a pretty effing good job last season with sticking to the 5 Piece French Wardrobe. I've spent sooo much less cash on useless t-shirts and shoes from Salvation Army and other cheapo places, and have actually grown to prefer saving (madness, you say??). In fact, the one time I did "go shopping", which was a week or so before I left for New Orleans, I felt real guilty about it. The few things I bought this season are things I've been wearing to death, which is really how it should be. So I guess what I've learned is that the 5 Piece French Wardrobe shouldn't consist of either "trendy" pieces or "basics" pieces. They should be good quality articles of clothing that encapsulate the kind of person you want to be. I think the collage above reflects how my style is evolving, and what I'll be searching for to make up my springtime wardrobe.

It's an amazing place: the sights and sounds and food so far have all been spectacular, and I love spending time with my boyfriend. I like looking at the photo shoots on Johnny's Bird because who doesn't like looking at skinny chicks dressing up and doing badass things? However, a couple months ago I saw a series about a girl who was dressed in a cheerleader's costume and took a spontaneous dive into a river in front of passerby. There was something kind of poignant about the photos, and I wanted to know more about her. I saw that she had a blog, so I started following and was immediately hooked. If you don't read Sandy's posts, you need to start doing so immediately.

Sandy isn't your typical wild child: on the contrary, she much more enjoys spending her time reading books about the sciences of the Middle East and the economic situation in Burma than partying it up. She's a woman who has already lived more at the age of 21 than most people will in their entire lifetime. Her passions, struggles, and achievements are all detailed in her incredibly fun-to-read blog, and I was lucky enough to interview her a few weeks ago.

Do you think that having lived in other countries has developed your sense of style in a distinct way?

I wouldn't say 'sense of style' as I'm not particularly stylish however yes, living in England definitely changed the way I dress. Going to South Africa for a couple of months changed my preferences as well. Ofcourse it is impossible to know whether I would have dressed differently if staying in Sweden for all those years but lets face it, I probably would have.

What role do you think fashion will have in your future life (if any)?

Clothes, to me, is about stepping into a certain role. The way I dress is how I want other people to see me. Seeing as my life is taking a very academic turn I have a hard time imagining myself wearing denim shorts and a cropped top at the age of 30 when I'm busy with my supposed career. I will always care for clothes to reflect my mood, but that doesn't mean that fashion is going to have a major impact on my life. Clothes really isn't just clothes, it's been a political movement but to me, there's more important things. For instance, when I play in Model UN's we all have to dress formally and I absolutely love it.

Why are you so interested in Middle Eastern studies?

Mainly because of the general hatred and suspicion towards Muslims, I suppose. I find it fascinating that media all over the western world have managed to paint a picture of Muslims as if they're all terrorists. I would not say that racism is a bigger issue in Sweden than anywhere else, however it bothers me that people seem to know so little about people from the Middle East as well as the Middle East, yet have so many opinions. I do not want to be like that. And of course, there is a clear problem in the Middle East with the lack of democracy and human rights, which I want to know more about to be able to one day perhaps understand it.

What has been the reaction of your Johnny's Bird photo shoot from the people you know and others? It's pretty provocative, perhaps even more so than the other shoots on the website.

Well, people are strange when they are strangers. I really could not care less about people's opinions on the work I have done with Moni. I haven't heard anything negative from the people I actually know - but then again, they're the ones that are more likely to slag you of which is slightly ironic - but there's been a few odd comments on the blog. 'bitch' 'slag' etc.

Where do you buy most of your clothes?

Flee markets, second hand shops etc. I rarely shop for clothes - it's so expensive! even h&m makes me gasp - but when I do it's only ever second hand. Walking around shops bores me (quite the irony as I used to love it up until just a few years ago) and I hardly ever find something I really like. However when I do, I use it until it falls into pieces.

Ever since the age of 13, I've dreamt of having completely blue hair. Now that I'm living all by my lonesome, I decided that I would try a modified version. I love the way it turned out, it's like mermaid hair. Also here you can see more shots of the DM Darcie boots. The rest of the outfit is what I've been wearing for the past month, with some slight tweaking so that I'm not actually wearing the same thing every day.

As I should have realized, life takes you on many unsuspecting journeys, where what seemed to be the object of your desire suddenly fades into the distance, and something else takes its place. What I mean to say is, my 5PFW list has changed somewhat. Due to a trip I took to the Soho Uniqlo a few afternoons ago. I was going there to look for a black blazer (on my basics list) and/or some trousers (on my wish list). What happened, however, was that I found the most beautiful wool coat. It's so soft, so warm, just the right length, and has the greatest shape. Relaxed minimalism, my new best friend. Also, my desire for a black blazer has dissipated ever since the arrival of my black Doc Martens Darcie boots. They don't count as anything though, they were a belated birthday present. I just wanted to let you know how much I love them. I've also found the perfect white shirt at the Gap. So my new list is:

I always think LaGarconne's lookbooks are bananas, but their Pre-Spring series (by the way, what is Pre Spring? I hate these made up in-between seasons that fashion people think they can invent) is really spectacular. I like this whole "relaxed minimalism" thing that's finally coming around to the US. It's the perfect blend of being sensible (cause it's a plain black sweater), and a little bit crazy (fur tufts on the shoulder, anyone?). I have one or two other maxidresses, but the one I got for Christmas is really perfect: it's the right amount of length, sheerness, drape, etc. It's already giving me so much inspiration, for wintertime and beyond. I also can't wait till my new Docs come in the mail; I see great things in this pairing. I think I also want to find a good dark brown/dark grey belt to wear with it, and some simple gold jewelry.

On another note, however, I've been really inspired after reading a post on the blog afterDRK. She talked about how she wanted to start the "5 Piece French Wardrobe" starting in January, and I think I might start too. The premise is to only buy 5 new "trendy" pieces each season, excluding basics and accessories under $150. Obviously, the idea is to only buy things that you really like. I think it's a great idea for me, because I tend to buy cheap things in bulk, instead of a few nicer things. I'll try it, and tell you how it goes!

J'ai déjà eu des robes maxi, mais l'un que j'ai reçu pour le Noël, elle est la perfection même. Ça me donne tant d'inspiration, pour l'hiver et au-delà. Quand même, je peux pas attendre pour mes nouvelles Docs d'arriver; aussi, je voudrais une ceinture marron ou gris, et des bijoux simples.

Aussi, ce que la bloggeuse AfterDRK a posté m'inspire. Elle dit comment elle pouvait à commencer le programme "le 5 pièces penderie Français" en Janvier, et je pense que je vais le commencer aussi. I think I want to start making some bluesy folk soul americana bullshit music soon. I haven't been in a band for a while, and I want to start learning a new instrument anyway. This year for some reason, winter makes me think of going back to nature. But I think that's mostly because I am itching to travel, so much so that it's making me a little crazier than I am usually. I'm glad I get to take care of a family friend's cats soon. They soothe me, and it'll give me something to do while my boy is in Hawaii. Maybe I'll write music inspired by those 5 crazy cats.

I've been perusing Style.com's pre-fall 2011 collections and have been massively enamored of them, especially Donna Karan and Elie Tahari. Chanel's collection, inspired by Byzantine opulence, seemed at first to be too over-the-top and brazenly glamorous for me to relate to. However, it was that collection I decided to base these collages off of. Because honestly, I think glamour is what we need during the winter months when everyone starts dressing like a nylon-covered behemoth. There is a sense of ease in the velvet trousers and draped gowns that offset the jewels, gold filigree, and sumptuous leather. Beauty.

I also was going to post some outfit pics taken today in Washington Square Park that were interrupted by some pigeons that attacked me. But I thought better of it because they look kind of awkward. I attribute this to the face that I was, you know, being attacked by pigeons...

Started as a T-shirt only brand, Public Beware now has three clothing lines on sale in its own shop on Brick Lane and has acquired a large cult following from around the globe.

My only regret about Public Beware is that their stores are so far away! I'm really feeling their aesthetic, it's the perfect blend of funky and chic, a balance I'm always trying to find in what I wear. The jackets and accessories especially are freaking sickk. Their price point is also super enticing, and the fact that they luckily ship everywhere. The Brits can't have all the fun, ya know?

My major in college is such that, during my junior year I spend an entire year abroad, rather than just one semester. They really want us to immerse ourselves in another language and culture. I thought that I was going to Paris, but now it looks like I'm going to be traveling to Florence instead. I'm getting used to the idea, because Paris was my first choice, but now I think it might be a fantastic idea. I've never connected with my Italian heritage before, and if I want to be an opera singer, Italy is the obvious choice. I think I'm just craving travel and change.

There is a video on YouTube and Vimeo of us singing the Bed Intruder song. FYI, we arranged it and learned it literally hours before performing it in the above video. It's totally not our best song, please please look at our other videos to see how truly talented everyone is. But check out the post and the video for a silly time. I feel like there's no humor in fashion anymore, and I wish there was. I'd love to be wearing these outfits right now. I had arguably the best weekend of my life, because my boyfriend came all the way from Nola to visit little ol' me. We had a perfect time, and I was reminded of how incredible it is to find someone that you can care for so deeply. It takes us out of that little narcissistic bubble we can get trapped in. I was talking with my boyfriend on iChat yesterday, and I mentioned that I wanted to start dressing differently. He looked perplexed and asked me what I meant. I said that I wanted to dress in a more graphic, minimalist way. He looked confused, so I said, "I want to wear outfits that have more meaning" He looked confused and upset, "But I like how you dress! It's so unique and nice!" Random happenings from college days/nights. I can feel myself getting into a rhythm here, and now that I'm in a cappella and my voice lessons are all straightened out, I feel as though almost everything I need is being provided for. I'm super poor, but I was expecting that. It's funny, because I've been going to a bunch of fashion shows this week, courtesy of the Today show, for whom I'm writing reviews (check out their fashion week slideshows). I'm seeing all of these people slinging around $2,000 bags and looking ridiculous in clothing that is purely trendy and that they'll be bored of in a week. I wonder, where is the truth in fashion? I find it in the magic of how a garment is constructed and hangs on the body, not in the people. I'm tired of fashionistas who all dress the same. But I also conform to so many of their "rules," so I don't really know what to think. Is it possible to be a stylish individual? Or rather, a poor stylish individual? I don't know. I did treat myself to a manicure yesterday, it's like an army green-grey color. Sooo trendy.

I'm going to Salvation Army today to look for a denim jacket and a jewelry box, then back to CVS, a place that always leaves me completely flabbergasted at how much money I can spend on stupid things. I hate shopping for college because it seems like the more I buy, the more paranoid I get that I'm forgetting something essential. I've also begun putting my whole life into boxes- a daunting task. Hopefully my suitemates aren't easily shocked, because the number of pairs of shoes I'm bringing is slightly frightening.

My boyfriend left for college today, and I couldn't have anticipated how devastating it was to see him go. I miss him so much, he's been my best friend for years and it's hard imagining the future without him always around. Pictured above are my new favorite shoes, the extremely legit vintage Docs that I found for $8 at the Williamsburg Salvation Army. I'm rehearsing for a play in Williamsburg at the moment, and it's become my new favorite place to hang out. Although it is overrun with dreaded hipsters (see blog header), I like the cheap korean/japanese food places, the parks and buying gold jewelry literally off of the pavement.

I find trains to be much more disconcerting than airplanes because, although planes can be terrifying during takeoff and landing, at least when you're in the air it's impossible to feel yourself moving. Trains show you everything that's around at lightspeed as you pass by. It makes me think of the smallness of the train and how many things I'm missing, and how many more things I would miss, should the train crash.

My decision not to go home had been brought on by a subtly hellish week spent with my mother in Prague. She has a weird guilt thing with me, because although 99% of the time she doesn't give a shit about me- as evidenced by the fact that she sent me to a boarding school far, far away from her for my entire childhood- about three times a year she "calls" for me to be shipped to wherever she wants for shopping and what she calls bonding. I suppose it's not her fault that we can't relate to one another; she is just impossibly glamorous. She wears mink-collared dressing gowns, would never leave the house without a full face of makeup and who refers to people as darling, even if they're older than her. I always comply and go to her, and we spend about seven days shopping for things I won't wear and drinking champagne and not saying a word to each other. It's just about the saddest thing I know.

The train halted, and I slung my backpack over my shoulder. Stepping out into the sun was quite a change from the brisk October air in Prague. I began to sweat, and I didn't know if it was because of the weather. I walked into the bathroom of the train station, and splashed some water on my face. I looked very small, and too young. I rolled my jeans up at the cuffs, and wrapped my scarf around my hair. I put on some bright pink lipstick and adjusted my nose ring and grimaced at the mirror.

Walking around that city for the first time in three years brought to me an onslaught of memories, painful and pure. I saw the square where we all used to meet, the cafes we used to frequent, and the alleyways in which we hid and kissed. The knot was growing in my stomach because I was still so unsure of everything, and there was a great possibility that my efforts would be in vain.

I arrived at the same stone building with the same peeling paint on the door that had been there, static, for three years. I rang the doorbell to the apartment and waited. I looked at my watch. After a few minutes I rang the bell again and then sat on the stoop, facing the park across the street. There were beautiful children playing and I wanted to talk to them and tell them stories. I would have talked to anyone at that point, just to say something about my loneliness and desperation. I was so scared of being alone that I had traveled across the entire continent of Europe to meet someone I had loved long ago.

Someone sat down next to me. I turned and it was him, his eyes gave him away. Green as the sea, they remained constant, although the rest of him had changed a great deal. He said some soft words to me, and I could not contain myself as I threw my arms around his neck. The children seemed to stop playing, to watch this scene unfold for a moment.

I'm stuck between loving this season's clothes and pining for the clothing of the season ahead. It's funny because I usually dislike summer clothing. I guess this summer has just been an unusually good one.

Recipe for Lemon Panna Pudding

makes 4 servings

2 c. heavy cream

1/4 c. granulated sugar

1 packet lemon pudding

1 tsp. vanilla extract

grated rind of 1 lemon

mixed berries

1. Put cream and sugar in a saucepan on the stove, stirring occassionally until the sugar dissolves completely. Turn off the heat and add vanilla extract.

2. Meanwhile, put 4 teaspoons of water in a medium-sized bowl and add the packet of pudding mix. Mix gently.

3. Add the cream mixture to the pudding mixture and stir for several minutes until the gelatin has dissolved (if it doesn't dissolve 100%, don't worry). Add in 3/4 of the grated rind.

4. Put the panna pudding in individual serving glasses or small bowls. Put in the refrigerator to chill for 3-4 hours. When you take it out, garnish with the rest of the rind and whatever berries you would like-I used strawberries, blueberries and blackberries.

These photos, like most of my others, were taken with the addition of my furry friends. They always seem to squeeze themselves into my pictures; talk about vain! Also, the reason I'm holding my hair back in all three pictures is to show off these gorgeous gold and purple earrings I just got. They're large and fabulous and I don't care that they make my ears feel heavy.

Anyway, a very cool thing happened recently: I was informed that I won the Lorick dress from the Refinery29 competition! I had to write a comment about why I liked a certain look from the fall/winter '10 collection, and out of the 65 entries, mine was chosen. I'm so amazingly excited to receive the dress. Things like this literally never happen to me, so you can bet on getting a slew of pictures detailing my freakout when it arrives.

I'm slowly putting together a scrapbook of interior design inspirations, to help me with decorating my college dorm room. Now obviously, these aren't the typical undergrad digs, these are just rooms that I like elements of: the artwork, the color scheme, the little odds and ends that make it special. For example, I'm realizing that I love rooms with animal-related details- little sculptures of piggies and owls, furry (faux) rugs and the motif of wings are all so interesting to me.
